JOHOR BARU: Bukit Aman will be conducting an investigation after a man died while in custody at Larkin police station here.
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said that the man died while receiving treatment at Larkin health clinic here on Wednesday (Jan 11) morning.
"The 47-year-old man complained of pain and started to vomit at around 6.30am earlier Wednesday morning. He was then brought to the clinic at around 7.45am.
"However, the medical officer that was treating him confirmed his death at around 8.30am," he said in a statement.
ACP Raub added that the man was arrested on Tuesday (Dec 10) for having a wanted record under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 and further checks found he had 12 prior drugs offences.
He said the man was held at the Larkin station police lock up and supposed to be brought to the Johor Baru court complex here to be charge on the day of his passing.
"A post mortem has been scheduled on the man’s body at Sultanah Aminah Hospital to find out the cause of death and for further action.
"For now, the case is classified as sudden death. Bukit Aman’s integrity and compliance standards department will be investigating the case," he added.
