PETALING JAYA: The Crisis Relief Squad of MCA (CRSM) is helping the victims, their families and frontliners involved in the Batang Kali landslide through crowdfunding.

Those who intend to donate can check out www.gocare.org.my or call 03-22033920 for details.

“As a Friend of the National Disaster Management Agency, CRSM did not hesitate to provide support to the rescue teams at the tragedy site.

“Dry foodstuff and energy drinks were brought to enable the rescuers to replenish their energy when necessary,” said CRSM national chief Datuk Natalie Lim Chong Ly.

Lim said CRSM members expressed their concerns and condolences for tourists and holidaymakers trapped, suffered injuries, still missing or lost their lives to the landslides which struck the Father’s Organic Farm camping site at Batang Kali, near Genting Highlands.

“Upon learning of the deadly landslides at Batang Kali, CRSM volunteers were immediately dispatched to the location to comprehend the situation with the hope of providing the appropriate assistance for the victims and next-of-kin,” she said in a statement on Saturday.

She also urged the public to avoid going to high-risk areas such as hillslopes, seaside, river banks, and waterfalls during the monsoon season.

The people, she said, should be vigilant at all times, especially at mountainous areas, which were prone to landslides due to the rainy season.

The CRSM had posted information on Facebook about landslides and rescue efforts, so as to raise everyone’s level of vigilance, she said.
