Cops nab snatch thief within hours of crime

KAJANG: A snatch theft at a car wash here was solved on the same day with the arrest of a suspect just hours after the crime was reported.

"The incident occurred at a car wash in Impian Murni Taman Saujana where the suspect robbed a man and a woman of RM500 in cash.

"A report was lodged at around 7.15pm on Saturday (Nov 26),” said Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan.

He added in a statement on Sunday (Nov 27) that police arrested a 21-year-old man in Taman Kantai Permai on the same night.

“Checks found the suspect had two offences on his criminal record. He also tested positive for methamphetamine," said ACP Mohd Zaid.

He added that the suspect also confessed to the crime.

"The clothes and motorcycle used during the snatch theft were also seized," he said.

ACP Mohd Zaid stressed that the suspect did not pretend to be a policeman, as some people had claimed on social media.
