KUALA LUMPUR: The decision of the Deputy Prime Minister post will be left to the Federal Government, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
The Sabah Chief Minister said Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) did not make any demands regarding the second most important position in the country in the unity government that was formed after the 15th General Election (GE15).
"We do not demand, it is up to the new government in Putrajaya," a local news portal quoted him as saying on Friday (Nov 25).
The GRS chairman was responding to questions posed by reporters on a position Pakatan Harapan had previously offered if it succeeded in leading the government in GE15.
When asked about Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's reaction to GRS’ decision in supporting the unity government, Hajiji said he is confident that the former prime minister understands that his coalition prioritises Sabah.
"We think about the interests of the state of Sabah under GRS, where we give priority to Sabah.
"So I think he knows and understands our decision.
"I think we don't have a problem because this is our decision in GRS," he said.
When asked about the collaboration between GRS and Sabah's Barisan Nasional, Hajiji said it was going well.
"It looks good as a unity government.
"What is important is that we focus on economic recovery and develop the state of Sabah.
"We want to take care of the well-being of the people, that is most important," he said.
