M’sians urged to be patient until new govt is formed

KUALA LUMPUR: The King has called on Malaysians to be patient and calm until the formation of the new government is completed.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had consented for the deadline for political parties to submit on the coalition for the formation of a new government to be extended.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the King had issued an order of consent so the process and nomination of the future 10th Prime Minister was extended to 2pm today.

“His Majesty’s order of approval is a follow-up to the requests from the leaders of political parties and coalitions of political parties that have been received by Istana Negara yesterday.

“In connection with that, His Majesty called and advised all the people to be patient and calm until the formation process of the new government and the nomination of the 10th Prime Minister has been completed.

“His Majesty also reminded the people that the administration of the country was still running as usual under the management of the caretaker Prime Minister based on the principles outlined for the caretaker government,” he said in a statement.

Barisan Nasional had sought an extension of time to convey its decision ahead of the initial 2pm deadline yesterday.

Ahmad Fadil added that the King called on the people to join together in praying that the process of forming a new government and the nomination of the future 10th Prime Minister would be simplified and run smoothly for the sake of the country.

“His Majesty also called on the people to join together in praying for Malaysia to be blessed and protected from any form of disaster and calamity,” he said.
