JOHOR BARU: The Kelana Jaya LRT Line has been running smoothly since it resumed operation early Monday (Nov 14) morning, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The caretaker Transport Minister said he has been getting updates from time to time from Prasarana Malaysia Bhd Group CEO Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah on the status of the LRT Line.

"Early this morning, I received a report from Azharuddin saying that the trains have been moving smoothly during peak hours.

"At about 11am, I received another update, also from Prasarana that the trains and system are still operating well without any hiccups so far.

"I am relieved to see the operation running well. However, I have told Prasarana, including our technical team and Thales Group (signalling supplier of the Kelana Jaya LRT Line), to be on standby and ensure the LRT line continues to run well," he said.

Dr Wee said this to the press after visiting a temple here in Stulang Laut.

He added that the operation of the Kelana Jaya LRT Line will be observed and monitored closely in the next few days.

"The Kelana Jaya LRT Line will continue to be observed so that we can act quickly if there is a need for any improvements.

"I hope that the train services will continue operating as usual," he said, adding that he is keeping a close eye on the matter.

The Kelana Jaya LRT Line resumed its operation at about 6am on Monday following the five-day-shutdown involving 16 stations from Kelana Jaya to Ampang Park that began last week.

In a statement on Facebook Sunday (Nov 13) evening, Dr Wee said he had taken a test ride on the line as part of the comprehensive testing that evaluated all parameters, in particular, signalling stability as the train enters and departs the stretch from Kelana Jaya to Ampang Park.

"I have been briefed by the Rapid Rail management on intensive tests conducted that involved 38 trains, all the way from Gombak to Putra Heights to ensure the Kelana Jaya Line is totally safe and ready for full reopening," he added.
