ALOR SETAR: A “memo” to election candidates, now that Covid-19 cases have gone up.
“Please don’t take things for granted,” said Kedah health director Dr Othman Warijo.
He advised them to abide by all the precautionary measures to avoid infections, citing for example the need to wear masks all the time.
Dr Othman said that more urgency and attention should be given to public health.
“We must make sure everyone is in good health.”
Politicians on their campaign trails should take all the necessary steps to keep the virus at bay, he said.
University Sains Malaysia’s family medicine specialist Dr Mastura Mohd Sopian said the public should remain vigilant.
The best way to avoid infection is to always mask up and to keep a safe distance from others especially in closed enclosure, she said.
“If you feel unwell, please do a self-test. And if you need to go out to cast your vote, but are Covid-19 positive, please alert the health authorities.
