SIBU: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is keeping its options open and will cooperate with any coalition that wins the 15th General Election, be it Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Harapan, says Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
"We will cooperate with any winning party. If Umno loses, then there is nothing to discuss. If Anwar (Pakatan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) wins, we will talk when he comes to us," he said during “Heart Talk”.The talk was uploaded on his Facebook page on Saturday (Nov 12).
Dr Sim added that GPA will bargain with any party that wins the election before cooperation could be established.
"But Barisan must win, too. If GPS loses, nobody will bother with Sarawak MPs," he added.
To a question on whether a Sarawakian could become a deputy prime minister, he said if GPS won many seats, it could even demand for the prime minister's post.
"But we must win big. It will be ridiculous to ask if we only have 20 seats," he said.
Dr Sim, who is also Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) president, said this is the first time that political parties are offering a DPM post to Sarawak as it has been said that no single political coalition could win enough seats to form the government.
"Now suddenly, all sides bring this up. This could be our chance,” he added.
