GE15: Give a chance to hardworking BN candidates, Heng urges voters

IPOH: Datuk Heng Seai Kie has urged the people to give a chance to the many hardworking candidates in Barisan Nasional.

The Wanita MCA chief said that if their respective incumbent assemblymen or MPs only appear during elections, it was time to consider the hardworking Barisan candidates.

"For example, Low Guo Nan, who is contesting the Ipoh Barat parliamentary seat, and Lim Huey Shan in the Kepayang seat, are both hardworking people.

"Despite contesting in challenging seats, they try their level best and are out to provide the best services to the people," she said during a walkabout with the Ipoh Barat MCA candidates at the famous Tong Sui Kai hawker street here.

Low is up against incumbent M. Kulasegaran from PH-DAP, Perikatan Nasional's Chek Kwong Weng from Gerakan and Independent candidate Tan Sri M. Kayveas.

Lim is up against Richard Ng (Perikatan-Bersatu) and Nga Kor Ming (PH-DAP) for the Kepayang state seat.

Heng said it was important to have checks and balances so that the people do not end up being victims.

"We need candidates who will serve the people. Give the young and new faces a chance to prove themselves," she added.

Heng said she had noticed that people are much friendlier towards the Barisan candidates now compared with the GE14 in 2018.

The Wanita MCA chief said this was her observation, especially in Penang.

She said this time around, people are friendlier when MCA candidates approach, which was a good sign.

"During GE14, candidates and team members wearing the Blue Barisan outfit used to get scolded and people refused to take the pamphlets handed to them or even threw them away.

"But this time, they accept the pamphlets and candidates don't get scolded – so there is a difference."
