GE15: Independent candidate drops out of Batu fight after hearing Tian Chua is running


KUALA LUMPUR: An independent candidate for the Batu parliamentary seat has decided not to contest after hearing that Chua Tian Chang - better known as Tian Chua - announced that he would be contesting.

Sao M Mahendran (pic) had said earlier he was representing the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Taxi Group, but is now saying that he will support Tian Chua’s campaigning efforts.

“We wanted someone who would represent our 10,000-strong group, and he (Tian Chua) is the right candidate. I have decided to withdraw my candidacy,” he said on Saturday (Nov 5).

Tian Chua announced on Saturday that he is contesting in the 15th General Election (GE15), running for the Batu parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.

The former PKR vice-president was spotted arriving at the Batu nomination centre at SMK Sentul Utama, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah at 8am on Saturday (Nov 5).
