Over RM19mil worth of parking summonses not paid, says Johor mayor

JOHOR BARU: More than RM19mil worth of parking summonses have not been paid to the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) this year, says Mayor Datuk Mohd Noorazam Osman.

To encourage members of the public to come forward and make payments, the council had introduced an 80% discount from January to December this year.

“We would like to remind the public that this promotion will end next month.

“So, we hope that those living in the city will come forward and settle their compounds before the closing date so that they will not be charged in court next year,” he said during a speech at the council meeting at Menara MBJB, Bukit Senyum here on Wednesday (Nov 2).

The compounds are issued under the Road Traffic (Provision of Parking Places) MBJB 2003, Road Traffic (Provision of Parking Places) MBJB (Amendment) 2020 and Anti Litter (MBJB) By-Laws 1981, he added.

As of Sept 30 this year, the council had managed to collect 45,492 compound notices worth RM4.5mil, he said.

“I would like to urge the public to take this opportunity and make the payments.

“The payments can be made at the MBJB one-stop centre, MBJB office Jalan Dato’ Onn, MBJB Johor Jaya branch or online at johor.ekhidmat.my,” he added.
