KUALA LUMPUR: Four Parti Amanah Nagara MPs were dropped from the 15th General Election candidates list, says party communications director Khalid Abdul Samad.

The MPs were Anuar Tahir (Temerloh), Hanipa Maidin (Sepang), Hasanuddin Yunus (Hulu Langat), Hasan Bahron (Tampin).

According to Khalid, this was a transition process for the party.

“It does not mean that they (the incumbents) have not performed well, but this is a transition process that we encourage in Amanah, to give way to new candidates.

“Anuar Tahir is not well, so we have given the Temerloh seat to a new candidate. We have also given Shah Alam to a new candidate as there was an opening for Titiwangsa, which I will contest in,” he said at a press conference.

He added that the two Federal Territories seats - Titiwangsa and Labuan - are new seats that Amanah will be contesting in for the polls.

An additional 19 seats have also been allocated for the party to contest in GE15, said Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.

“Amanah will be contesting 54 seats in the next general election, up by 35% from the last general election,” said the deputy president.

This includes three new seats in Johor, two in Kedah, three seats in Kelantan and one new seat each in Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Pahang, Perlis, Selangor and Terengganu.

He said there will be a total of seven women candidates.

They include Raj Munni @ Aiman Athirah who will be contesting in Sepang, Zainab Suhaili for Tanjung Manis and Nurthaqaffah Nordin for the Parit seat.

Incumbent MP Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad will be defending his seat in Kuala Selangor, while Datuk Mahfuz Omar will defend his seat in Pokok Sena, Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa in Pasir Buntar, Hatta Ramli in Lumut, party president Mohamad Sabu in Kota Raja and Salahuddin himself in Pulai.

Mohamad Sabu said Amanah in Pahang and Perlis will announce their state candidates in the days to come.

He added that the appointment letter (watikah) of all the Pakatan candidates will be signed by chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
