Covid-19: Another 3,189 new cases for 4,896,922 cumulative total


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 3,189 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday (Oct 30), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 4,896,922 since the pandemic began.

The Health Ministry's KKMNow portal reported that of the new cases, 3,186 were locally transmitted while three were imported cases.

There were also 2,541 recoveries recorded, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 4,829,756 since the pandemic began.

As at 11.59pm on Saturday, there were 30,702 active infections with 29,330, or 95.5%, observing home quarantine.

Of the number, 1,312 individuals (4.3% of active cases), were hospitalised throughout the country, with 60 (0.19%), admitted to intensive care units (ICU).

Of those in ICUs, 26 are unventilated while 34 require ventilator support.

The KKMNow portal also reported that Malaysia's ICU utilisation rate was at 61.7%.

There was one death reported,, which brings the total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 in Malaysia to 36,464 since the pandemic began.
