GE15: DAP to announce line-up for Penang, Kedah and Perlis this weekend

GEORGE TOWN: The DAP will announce its general election line-up for Penang, Kedah and Perlis this weekend, says Chow Kon Yeow.

The vice-chairman said party secretary-general Anthony Loke would be in the northern zone this weekend to announce names of the candidates.

Asked whether his name would be in the list, Chow, who is Penang DAP chairman, remained coy.

"I have made known my intention to the party leadership. Anyway, the DAP secretary-general (Anthony Loke) will be in the northern zone this weekend to announce the candidates for Penang, Kedah and Perlis.

"Based on my past statements, I had said that the previous 14th General Election would be my second last, if not the last," he told reporters in Bayan Lepas on Tuesday (Oct 25).

Chow, who is Penang DAP chairman and Padang Kota assemblyman, said the parliamentary and state election held separately in Penang would be considered as one, and refused to divulge on which he would be contesting.

He was Tanjung MP from 1999 to 2013, before the seat was taken by Ng Wei Aik of the same party, and Chow won it again in 2018.

Meanwhile, for Batu Kawan MP Kasthuri Patto who would not defend her seat after serving for two terms since 2013, Chow said the party accepted the fact and would look for a replacement.
