GE15: Khalid Samad to contest in Titiwangsa

PETALING JAYA: Amanah's Khalid Abdul Samad will contest in Titiwangsa instead of the Shah Alam parliamentary seat for the 15th General Election (GE15), says party election director Datuk Asmuni Awi.

He said Amanah was taking a risk by proposing Khalid to stand in Titiwangsa instead of its stronghold in Shah Alam.

"Leaving Shah Alam is not an easy choice. He has kept this parliamentary seat for three terms," he said in a statement on Sunday (Oct 23).

Khalid has held Shah Alam since 2008, winning in GE14 with a majority of 33,849 votes.

He is likely to face Barisan Nasional's former Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

There is also talk that Bersatu is planning to field its youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal in the constituency.

Asmuni said Pakatan Harapan would adopt more high-risk strategies for GE15.

Incumbent Titiwangsa MP Datuk Seri Rina Harun, who is also from Bersatu, is speculated to contest in Sepang for GE15.
