AMPANG: Three more men have been detained in connection with the abduction of a businessman in Ampang recently.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the suspects were arrested on Wednesday (Oct 5) in Ampang.
"The latest arrests bring the total of those detained in the case to six.
"We are charging three men today while those arrested yesterday will be remanded to assist us in the investigation," he said when contacted on Thursday (Oct 6).
On Sept 29, the 38-year-old businessman was abducted in front of a restaurant in Pandan Indah by a group of men in a white Toyota Vellfire.
The victim was later released and the motive is believed to be linked to unpaid debts.
Videos of the abduction, which show several motorcyclists chasing after the car, went viral on social media.
Following the abduction, police arrested three suspects and seized a car, clothes and cellphones.
Two of the suspects, aged 37 and 40, were a factory worker and a vegetable seller, who had prior convictions.
