Covid-19 Watch: 1,626 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,626 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday (Oct 1), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Sunday (Oct 2) that this brings the new total to 4,842,505 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 1,626 , five are imported cases while 1,621 are local.

The ministry also said through its CovidNow portal that there were 2,386 recoveries on Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 25,009.

Of the active cases, 96.0% or 24,014 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 3.8% of active cases or 953 individuals need to be hospitalised, with 42 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 27 require ventilator support.
