Elderly man killed in accident while on way to feed his cats, chickens in Alor Gajah


ALOR GAJAH: An elderly man was killed in an accident at a traffic light junction in Simpang Ampat here on Saturday (Oct 1) while he was on his way to feed his cats and chickens.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu identified the victim as Abd Rahim Hussin, 74, from Seremban, Negri Sembilan, who was currently living at Taman Naning here.

He said Abd Rahim has been temporarily staying at his son's house at another housing estate here to care for his ailing wife and returning each morning to his own house to feed his pets.

"Family members told my investigating officer that Abd Rahim's daily routine was to feed his cats and chickens at his house in Taman Naning and he had left his son's house to check on his pets before being killed in the accident," he said on Saturday (Oct 1).

Supt Arshad said Abd Rahim was making a U-Turn at the traffic junction when another motorcyclist from the opposite direction rammed into him at 5.30am on Saturday (Oct 1).

He said the rider of the other motorcycle was also killed in the accident.

Supt Arshad said the second victim was identified as Muhammad Farul Rizuan Zulkiply, 32, who works at car assembly plant at Pegoh here.

He added that the accident was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
