Tambunan man reported missing returns home safely after 24 hours


KOTA KINABALU: A villager in Tambunan district had a whole search and rescue operation mounted for him when his family reported him missing.

Fortunately, the 29-year-old Helry Junior Michel who was reported missing at around 6.20am on Monday (Sept 26), turned up safe and sound in the wee hours of Tuesday (Sept 27).

Tambunan Fire Station chief Desmond Dominic said after receiving a distress call on the first day, a search operation was mounted at Kg Lobou-Lobou.

"The operation went on till around 2.16am before we stopped. It was supposed to recommence at 7am, Tuesday (Sept 27)," he said when contacted.

However, they were later informed that Helry had returned home safely.

"We got confirmation from the police that the person who filed a missing person’s report had lodged another one at 6.59am, informing authorities of Helry’s safe return," Desmond said.
