PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,608 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (Sept 25), says the Health Ministry.
The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Monday (Sept 26) that this brings the new total to 4,831,822 cases since the pandemic began.
Of the 1,608, two are imported cases while 1,606 are local.
The ministry also said through its CovidNow portal that there were 2,352 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 24,532.
Of the active cases, 95.1% or 23,336 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while three people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).
Only 4.7% of active cases or 1,142 individuals need to be hospitalised, with 51 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.
Of that number, 29 require ventilator support.
