Fire destroys storage facility in Lebuh Victoria, no injuries reported

GEORGE TOWN: A storage facility located along the row of shophouses in Lebuh Victoria was destroyed in fire on Sunday (Sept 25) night.

State Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said no injuries were reported in the incident that occured at about 8.45pm.

"A team of firemen from Lebuh Pantai fire station assisted by personnel from Jalan Perak fire station were dispatched to the location after receiving a call from the public at 9.13pm.

“The fire destroyed about 90% of the storage facilities.

“The fire was put under control at 9.34pm,” said the spokesman.

He said that the nearby volunteer firemen also assisted in the operation.

“The cause of the fire is being investigated,” he added.
