Crowd gathers outside KL mall to protest holding elections during monsoon

KUALA LUMPUR: A group of protesters gathered in front of the Sogo Shopping mall opposing holding the general election during the monsoon season.

Many protesters were seen holding placards and banners "nyawa dulu, baru PRU", calling the authorities to prioritise lives rather than elections during the protest organised by Parti Ikatan Demokratik (Muda) on Saturday (Sept 24).

Several police personnel were on hand to the nature nothing untoward occurred during the protest.

Previously Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya had urged the organisers not to hold the protest.

In a press conference on Wednesday (Sept 21) Muda announced that it planned to hold the protest on Saturday to oppose holding the General Elections during the year end monsoon season.

Muda central executive committee member Nurainie Haziqah Shafii was quoted saying that the demonstration, 'Nyawa Dulu Baru Pilihan Raya' was planned to be held in front of Sogo Shopping Mall.
