Covid-19 Watch: 2,111 new cases bring total to 4,823,975


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,111 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Sept 21), says the Health Ministry.

According to the ministry's CovidNow portal, 2,106 of the new Covid-19 infections in the country were local transmissions, while there were five imported cases.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 4,823,975 cases since the pandemic began.

A total of six deaths were recorded on Wednesday with one classified as being brought in dead, bringing the total to 36,330.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 1,403 recoveries on Wednesday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 25,327.

Of the active cases, 95.4% or 24,169 individuals were undergoing home quarantine and no people were being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 4.3% of active cases or 1,101 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 57 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 37 require ventilator support.
