Couple who allegedly abused nephew, niece remanded for a week


KUALA LUMPUR: A couple that allegedly abused their niece and nephew have been remanded for a week, says Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak.

When contacted, he said that the remand order obtained on Saturday (Sept 17) was for seven days.

This comes after an eight-year-old boy was rescued after he attempted to flee his home by climbing out on the fourth floor of an apartment unit in Jalan Cahaya.

Firefighters that attended to him found numerous signs of physical abuse on the child’s body.

Police later found his younger sister, aged six, with similar bruises.

Two suspects, the child’s aunt and her husband, were arrested following the discovery.
