Boy attempts to escape from suspected abuser in KL


KUALA LUMPUR: An eight-year-old boy, believed to be a victim of domestic abuse, attempted to escape from an apartment in Jalan Cahaya here.

According to Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis, the boy was locked in a room and was trying to escape from the fourth floor at 4.40pm on Friday (Sept 16).

“His attempt was seen by members of the public.

“The door was broken into by a security guard before firefighters arrived,” he said when contacted.

It is believed that members of the public had alerted the security guard.

Photos sighted by The Star showed that the boy was standing on the ledge of the wall after he was believed to have climbed out of the room through the window.

Norazam added that they had handed over the boy to the police.

“It is believed that he is a victim of domestic abuse,” he said.

The Star had contacted the police for more details of the incident.
