Ismail Sabri congratulates new UK PM Liz Truss

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has congratulated Liz Truss on her appointment as Britain’s Prime Minister.

“All the best in carrying out your duties.

“I hope that Malaysia-UK relations will continue for the wellbeing of the people of both nations,” said the Prime Minister in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Sept 6).

Truss is the third female British Prime Minister after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May.

The 47-year-old won the ruling Conservative Party’s leadership contest on Monday, replacing Boris Johnson.

Prior to this, she had held various positions, including the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.
