Covid-19 Watch: 1,486 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,486 new Covid-19 infections on Monday (Sept 5), says the Health Ministry.

The ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Tuesday (Sept 6) that this brings the new total to 4,792,942 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 1,486, two are imported cases while 1,484 are local.

The ministry also said that there were 2,897 recoveries on Monday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 27,546.

Of the active cases, 94.9% or 26,154 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 16 people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 4.7% of active cases or 1,297 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 79 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 43 require ventilator support.
