PETALING JAYA: Investigations on individuals overseas linked to the 1MDB scandal are still ongoing, the MACC says.

In a statement on Sunday (Sept 4), the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) reiterated that investigations were still being conducted.

“The MACC is one of the main agencies in the recovery of assets and efforts to retrieve said assets that were the result of 1MDB misappropriation and from other companies are a priority. Every follow-up action requires cooperation from overseas enforcement agencies as it involves a complex and complicated money trail,” it said.

The MACC added that several meetings had been conducted with Kuwait enforcement agencies in the last two years and that they were still awaiting statements from them.

“At the same time as per the statement by the Attorney General, offers by Jho Low through his representatives for a settlement have been rejected fully,” it added.
