Transport Minister beams as he visits manufacturing site for ECRL pre-cast concrete structures

PETALING JAYA: The East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) link between Kota Baru and the Integrated Transport Terminal (ITT) in Gombak will be completed by the expected date of Jan 1, 2027, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister was at the pre-cast concrete beam manufacturing plant at the Jerus base camp in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan to survey its beam-casting yard on Friday (Sept 2).

In a TikTok post, he showed the areas where the beams were being made for all main ECRL structures.

"I was amazed to see how machinery was used, how steel bars were processed using advanced equipment and how they all came together in a solid structure and sent to construction sites.

"What is interesting is that they make it here before sending it to construction sites to be installed," he said.

Dr Wee also lauded the Malaysia Rail Link (MRL) and China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) teams for their quality work.

MRL is the project owner while CCCC is the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contractor for the project.

ECRL is a 640km-long railway link connecting states in the east and west coasts of Peninsular Malaysia, which will dramatically reduce travel time between the two regions.
