Price of Gardenia's Bonanza Keluarga loaf remains at RM2.75, says company

PETALING JAYA: The price of Gardenia's Bonanza Keluarga white bread loaf will be retained at RM2.75, says Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd.

In a statement on Sunday (Aug 28), the company said it would maintain the pricing for the 500g loaf, adding that it was more economical and suitable for larger families.

“Per 100g comparison, the Gardenia Bonanza Keluarga is also cheaper than the Original Classic Loaf,” it said.

Earlier, it was reported that Gardenia products were expected to cost more from Sept 1, with the company announcing new price hikes.

The company said it had no alternative but to increase its prices due to a hike in costs of raw materials such as wheat flour and vegetable fat, after making every effort to maintain prices.

It added that the sharp increase in transport costs over the years had also become critical and the company absorbed the costs.

"The company remains committed to maintaining product quality at an optimal level for the satisfaction of all and greatly appreciates your continuous support," it said in a statement.

Its standard sliced bread, a staple food product among the B40 and M40 groups, will see an increase of between 20 and 70 sen.

The new price list for 53 of its products shows that a 400g Gardenia Original Classic loaf will now cost RM3 (up from RM2.80), while the Jumbo 600g loaf will be RM4.30 (from RM4) and Breakthru Bran & Wheatgerm (400g) is now RM3.50 (from RM2.90).

The products include breads, buns, rolls, spreads and yellow noodles.
