National Day celebrations to be broadcast live through main TV channels

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Day celebrations will be broadcast live on all main television channels in the country on Aug 31.

Communications and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek said the move was in line with the National Day theme "Keluarge Malaysia Teguh Bersama’ (Malaysian Family Stronger Together) with three main thrusts namely inclusiveness, togetherness, and gratitude.

According to him, the celebrations this year involved the largest participation with 18,000 participants involving parades by various contingents including 27 ministries and various corporate bodies in the country.

"When we speak about inclusiveness and togetherness, we mean the involvement of various parties from the government to private agencies in the event.

"We are also featuring various assets of the country. In all, almost 300 national assets would be involved which we expect would captivate the attention of the people,” he said in an interview on ‘Agenda Awani’ produced by Astro Awani on Friday (Aug 26).

Sharing the findings on the preparation at Dataran Merdeka yesterday, Mohammad who is also the 2022 National Day and Malaysia Day Celebration Technical Committee chairman, said everything is 80% ready.

He also said that people should attend the event, adding that celebrations had not been held for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"We hope city folks and those living near the Klang Valley would turn out in large numbers at Dataran Merdeka to display our spirit of patriotism among Keluarga Malaysia to watch the parade and presentations on the achievements we have attained,” he said. - Bernama
