Let PAS use own logo to contest GE15 for better chance at winning, says T'ganu delegate

SERDANG: Allow PAS to contest with its own logo instead of Perikatan Nasional’s in the 15th General Election (GE15) to have better chances of winning, says a Terengganu PAS delegate.

Terengganu Perikatan election director Ariffin Deraman said the PAS green and white moon flag has helped the party to win in elections - including in GE14 when it managed to capture the Terengganu government.

“My request to the leadership of Perikatan is that the PAS flag should be used in GE15, at least in Terengganu, Kelantan and Kedah.

“This is not because we reject Perikatan. But the politics at the national level and on the east coast are different,” said Ariffin in his speech at the Perikatan convention.

Ariffin, however, said Perikatan could conduct a survey among voters in the east coast to find out which party flag they prefer.

“If the survey finds that using the Perikatan flag will give us better chances of winning the election, then it is fine,” said Ariffin, who is a Terengganu executive council member.

Perikatan is mulling a common new logo in GE15, but this proposal has received mixed reactions from PAS supporters.

The Perikatan coalition consists of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, PAS, Gerakan, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Sabah STAR) and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).

GE15 is highly speculated to be held before year’s end.

Barisan Nasional has decided to break up with Perikatan - who are currently still their partners at the federal level - and will be going solo in GE15.

Pakatan Harapan has also announced that all its parties will be contesting the election under a single unified logo for the first time.
