All calm at Najib's home following Federal Court decision against him

KUALA LUMPUR: All is calm at Datuk Seri Najib Razak's Jalan Langgak Duta residence following the Federal Court's decision to uphold his sentence and conviction in the SRC International case.

This is in stark contrast to the time when the investigation against the former prime minister began in 2018, as the streets were filled with local and foreign pressmen waiting to report on the latest development in the investigation.

Scores of vehicles were also seen parked near his home in 2018.

However, a check by The Star as of 5pm on Tuesday (Aug 23) found that it was calm near Najib's home, save for a few members of the media standing by.

No police personnel have been deployed near his home except for those on duty at the police guard post there.

On Tuesday, the Federal Court dismissed Datuk Najib's appeal to quash his conviction and sentence in the SRC International Sdn Bhd trial.

Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, in the broad grounds of judgment, said the five-judge panel had examined the merits of the case "in great detail".

She said the apex court found that the conviction was safe on all seven charges and that the sentence was not excessive. She ordered that he be sent to jail immediately.
