Semporna croc attack: Search efforts for missing angler continue for second day


KOTA KINABALU: The search and rescue (SAR) operation continued on Monday (Aug 22) for the man believed to have been mauled by a crocodile while fishing at a Semporna river on Sundau (Aug 21).

"The operation postponed at 10.53pm on Sunday and resumed at 7.01am Monday.

"The search is via the 'water surface' method, using a rescue boat along Sungai Pegagau.

"There is no phone line coverage at the location, and information will be updated from time to time," a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said.

The victim Azman Tugau, 35, was attacked by a crocodile while fishing with his cousin at Sungai Pegagau at around 3pm on Sunday (Aug 21).

They were fishing at the river bank when he was snatched by the reptile, while the cousin managed to flee.
