Two injured in Semporna accident involving ice-laden lorry


KOTA KINABALU: Two men were injured in an accident involving an ice-laden lorry in Semporna.

The Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement, said received a report at 6.09pm on Friday (Aug 12) alerting them to the incident at KM32, Jalan Semporna-Tawau.

"The driver of the five-tonne lorry lost control of the vehicle and it landed on its side.

"The driver, 24, and a passenger, 35, sustained injuries and were sent to the hospital for further treatment.

"The operation ended at 6.46pm after an inspection was carried out to ensure there weere no more hazards at the location," said a department spokesman.

In another incident in Kota Kinabalu at 8.44pm on Friday, a motorcyclist was injured after he was hit by a van at Suria Inanam.

The van driver and a passenger escaped unhurt.

"The injured victim, 27, was given first aid at the scene and was taken to the hospital.

"The operation ended at 9pm," added the spokesman.
