Man slashed over MACC report

KUALA LUMPUR: A 42-year-old man was slashed on his left hand by an assailant after reporting the latter to graft busters for alleged corruption.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said the incident occurred in front of a hair salon on Jalan Ipoh at about 4pm on Friday (Aug 5).

"Initial investigations revealed that the suspect was not happy at the victim for reporting him to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

"Both men got into an argument before the suspect slashed the victim's left hand with a knife," he said when contacted on Saturday (Aug 6).

The victim received treatment at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, he said.

"The victim suffered a 3cm-deep wound and had to undergo surgery," he said.

ACP Beh said police managed to apprehend the suspect at about 11.50pm on Friday.

"The 36-year-old man had three prior cases in his criminal record. We are investigating under Section 324 of the Penal Code and the suspect will be remanded for further investigation," he added.

ACP Beh urged those with information to contact Sentul district police headquarters's operations room at 03-40482222.
