Covid-19 Watch: 4,204 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 4,204 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday (Aug 2), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Wednesday (Aug 3) that this brings the new total to 4,687,470 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 4,204 there are three imported cases while 4,201 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 4,582 recoveries on Tuesday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 44,278

Of the active cases, 96.3% or 42,661 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 24 people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

A total of 3.5% of active cases or 1,537 individuals are hospitalised, with 56 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 36 require ventilator support.
