Local drama producer nabbed for alleged criminal intimidation


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a local drama producer for allegedly punching and threatening to murder a fitness centre manager.

Investigations found the suspect had confronted the victim following a misunderstanding over a woman.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the incident occurred at around 5am on June 22.

"The 34-year-old complainant alleged that he was tailed by a man driving a pick-up truck to a petrol station along the Middle Ring Road 2 here.

"He claims that he was punched by the suspect and that the suspect also threatened to kill him if he screamed," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 2).

He said the complainant experienced pain on his left cheek and received treatment at Hospital Ampang.

"Following investigations, police arrested the 36-year-old suspect after he came to the Ampang Jaya police headquarters at around 8.30pm on Monday (Aug 1).

"We also seized the truck he was said to be driving," he said, adding that the suspect has been remanded to help with further investigations.

He said the suspect claimed that the complainant had uttered expletives towards him before the incident.

"Our investigations revealed the two men were fighting over a woman.

"We are investigating the incident for causing hurt and criminal intimidation," he said
