Foreigner murdered in Buntong, brothers and uncle among four arrested

IPOH: The police have arrested four foreigners, believed to be involved in the murder of their fellow countryman in Buntong here.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said those arrested include the 37-year-old victim's two brothers, an uncle and a friend, all aged between 33 and 46.

Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the arrests were made on Monday at 1.15pm.

"On Sunday at about 9.20am, we received a report from a 40-year-old foreigner that his brother had been found unconscious inside a house in Buntong. The victim was found on the floor," he said in a statement on Monday (July 1).

"His death was confirmed by Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital paramedics at the location.

"The incident was initially classified as sudden death because there was no sign of foul play, as observed on the body and at the location," he added.

Comm Mior Faridalathrash said a post-mortem carried out on Monday (Aug 1) morning found that the cause of death was due to an injury to the abdomen caused by a blunt object.

"The case was reclassified as murder and we arrested the four foreign men" he said.

"The police also found a hammer, believed to be the weapon that was used in the crime," he said.

"Those arrested will be taken to the Magistrate's Court here on Tuesday (aug2) to get a remand order.

"We believe that we have solved the murder with the arrests and seizure of the hammer," he added.
