PM: Remains to be seen if political funding bill will be ready for GE15

SHAH ALAM: The political funding bill is being worked on, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said whether it could be ready before the 15th General Election (GE15) remains to be seen.

"It is in the process. I'm not sure (if it can be done before GE15). You'll have to ask the law minister, it is under him," he told reporters after attending the Selangor Barisan Nasional Convention at the Setia City Convention Centre here on Sunday (July 31).

On May 19, Ismail Sabri said the government had agreed in principle to the drafting of a political funding bill.

Pakatan Harapan presidential council in June had urged the government to expedite tabling the bill and to place the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission under Parliament.

Asked if he was feeling less pressure now since Umno elections had been postponed until after GE15, Ismail Sabri who is Umno vice-president said he felt no pressure and that the party was ready.
