A MARRIED man was caught in a hotel room with a woman he had just met through a social media platform, Berita Harian reported.
The 24-year-old was found hiding under the bed when a team from the Kulim District Religious Office stormed into the room during a raid at a hotel in the Kedah district on Tuesday night.
Enforcement officer Anwar Shariffudin Mat Saad said the pair was caught for committing khalwat (close proximity).
“We are investigating the case under Section 25(a)(b) of the Kedah Syariah Criminal Offences Enactment 2014, which carries a fine of not more than RM3,000 or two years’ jail, or both, if convicted,” he added.

The victim, Mohd Ruzaini Daraman, died at the scene while his wife and grandchild suffered injuries to the face and right leg respectively.
Hulu Terengganu OCPD Deputy Supt Mohd Adli Mat Daud said Mohd Ruzaini and his family members were heading home when their car skidded and rammed head-on with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
“The driver and two passengers in the other car suffered injuries on their heads and arms, but a six-year-old passenger escaped unhurt,” he added.
