Perak cops arrest female suspect to assist in underage rape case

LUMUT: Perak police have arrested a female suspect to help with a rape case involving an underage student.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the female suspect is a friend of the victim.

“We believed that the female suspect was the one who brought the victim to the other suspects.

“She is a few years older than the victim,” he told reporters after officiating the Pulau Pangkor police station here on Wednesday (July 27).

On July 20, six suspects aged between 16 and 21 were arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old victim.

The victim’s mother lodged a police report after finding her daughter lying semi-conscious at a flat at Panorama Lapangan Terbang.

The victim was then brought to the hospital for an examination, and it was discovered then that she had been raped.

Separately, Comm Mior Faridalathrash said the police will investigate the preacher who allegedly raped a 14-year-old in Selangor following a report in Perak.

“We wait for the investigation in Selangor to be done first and then we will start ours,” he said

The preacher was reportedly arrested on Monday (July 18) at the Kuala Selangor police headquarters and was remanded until July 23.

Four investigation papers involving the man have been opened, including one in Perak.
