PETALING JAYA: From Oct 1, all Health Ministry facilities including clinics and hospitals will only accept cashless payments via debit cards, credit cards and ewallets.
According to a Health Ministry circular, a customer is only allowed to pay with cash if the said individual does not have a bank account or access to cashless payments.

“In line with the Health Ministry anti-corruption plan and the Malaysia Digital Economic Blueprint 2021, all ministry facilities will only receive cashless payments through epayment modes such as debit cards, credit cards and ewallets, beginning Oct 1," ministry secretary-general Datuk Harjeet Singh said in the circular dated June 22.
Harjeet said going cashless is meant to reduce risks of leakages involving public funds, facilitate the payment process, reduce exposure to Covid-19, and cut costs in the revenue collection process.
He added that the ministry expects 95% of transactions at its hospitals and clinics to be cashless by the end of the year.
