KOTA KINABALU: Assemblymen here should not drag the state assembly into their political agenda because the 15th General Election (GE15) is around the corner.
This message was given by state assembly Speaker Datuk Kadzim Yahya during the first day of the sitting on Monday (July 18).
This comes after the Speaker noticed that several state representatives were going to social media to “share” how their proposed questions for the sitting were rejected by the state assembly.
“I am not sure why they are doing this, whether to tell the public that the assembly is not doing its job or for personal political mileage,” he said.
Kadzim said these representatives did not mention or inform the public why their questions or proposals were rejected when in fact, the questions proposed did not pass the requirements or the Standing Orders of the state assembly.
He said they make it seem like the assembly did not even want to consider the questions posed, adding that issues relating to the state assembly sitting should not be used for political mileage.
“Don’t drag the state assembly into your political agenda just because the elections are near. If you want to spread something, spread the whole truth but never the half-truth or something that is not true at all,” he said.
