Warisan keeps door open to PBS

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has hinted that Parti Warisan may contest the coming general election on its own amid possible difficulties over seat-sharing with other potential partners. But the Warisan president also kept the door open on working with Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).

“As I have mentioned previously, we will accept PBS as our partner.”

“But we can’t force the matter if they (PBS) do not want it,” he said after a walkabout at a morning market in Luyang here yesterday.

Shafie had previously said Warisan did not mind working with PBS as it was a local party but this was turned down by PBS president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, although the latter said his party appreciated Warisan’s gesture.

Shafie added, without specifying any detail, that they were not only looking to contest in Sabah but potentially in the peninsula as well.
