PKR congress: 13 from Rafizi's list make it to central council

SHAH ALAM: Thirteen of the elected central leadership council members at the PKR annual congress for 2022 -2025 were from the list tweeted by deputy president Rafizi Ramli.

Among them were Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasrullah Nasir, Bakar Arang assemblyman Ooi Tze Min and Simpang Pulai assemblyman Tan Kar Hing.

Others on the list were Subang MP Wong Chen, Merbok MP Nor Azrina Surip, Semambu assemblyman Lee Chean Chung and showbiz personality Datuk Hans Issac.

Simpang Renggam MP and former education minister Dr Mazlee Malik came up top in the race for a place in the coveted council with 1,091 votes.

He was followed quite closely by former youth chief Akmal Nasrullah with 956 votes while Issac came in 10th with 20 votes.

Although PKR prides itself as a multiracial party, none of the Indians who contested for a place in the council made it into the top 20 list.

PKR's three-day congress ends on Sunday (July 17).

This year's congress, which saw the election of a fresh leadership team for the 2022-2025 term, is regarded by many as the turning point for the party after the 2020 defections and betrayals which seriously shook up the party.
