Perlis Ruler orders urgent repair to homes of storm victims

KANGAR: The Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Putra Sirajuddin Jamalullail on Wednesday (July 13) ordered that the homes of storm victims in the state be repaired immediately.

"The homes of the (storm) victims need to be repaired immediately, especially in this unpredictable weather interspersed with intermittent heavy rains," he said in a statement issued by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs).

Earlier, His Royal Highness, who was accompanied by MAIPs chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor and Zakat Coordinating Officer Mohd Radzi Ahmad Rahim, spent about an hour visiting the victims and areas affected by the storm.

The statement also mentioned that one of the victims, Rohaya Ismail, did not expect to receive his visit.

"I am deeply touched by the visit of Tuanku Raja Perlis who is so concerned with our fate and welfare and we will always pray for Tuanku and the Royal family to be blessed and protected by God," said Rohaya.

Bernama reported on Wednesday that 50 houses in several villages were damaged, especially to the roofing, in the heavy rains and storms that hit the state on Tuesday (July 12). - Bernama
