Family tragedy: Four killed were on their way to send daughter to KL


IPOH: The family of four killed when a trailer crashed into the car they were in on KM277.1 of the North-South Expressway near here were on their way to send a daughter who got a new job in Kuala Lumpur.

In the 3pm incident Wednesday (July 13), the victims were identified as retired police corporal Rahim Ramli, 60, his wife Siti Petimah Omar, 59 and their two daughters Nor Nadirah, 28 and Nor Hamizah, 27.

The accident that occurred at about the 3pm on Tuesday (July 13) along the south-bound lane involved seven vehicles- the trailer and six cars.

It is learnt that the family were traveling from Sungai Petani to Kuala Lumpur.

A family member who only wished to be known as Atie, 43, said she last spoke to Siti Petimah at noon when they somewhere near Alor Pongsu.

"I tried calling her at about 4.30pm again, but the call was not answered.

"I tried calling the others as well, but there was no answer, and I started to get this uneasy feeling.

"I then received another call from an aunt who informed me on what had happened," she said when met at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital’s forensic department.

Atie said they were on their way to Kuala Lumpur to send off one of the daughters who recently got a job there.

The victims are expected to be buried at the Permatang Pauh in Penang.
