KUALA LUMPUR: Producing graduates who can contribute to the country is important to MCA as a political party, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said the party will continue its efforts with the Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT).

Dr Wee - who is also the TARC Education Foundation Board of Trustees chairman - said this at the launch of TAR UMT’s 10-year roadmap on Saturday (July 9).

“TAR UMT is an institution for all Malaysians. Although we have faced various challenges, we are not apologetic (about it). This is an institution built by MCA. So what? We will continue (our efforts)," said Dr Wee.

“What’s important is that we will continue to produce graduates who will contribute to the development of the country. This is important to us, not receiving a gratuity,” he added.
