BALING: The pregnant woman and two family members who were killed when their home was swept away by a flood here have been laid to rest.

The bodies of Nurul Anis Abu Hassan, 23, along with her four-month-old foetus, her paralysed mother-in-law Salmah Mat Akib, 53, and brother-in-law Khairul Ikhwan Nor Azman, 14, were buried at the Kampung Charuk Bemban Dalam Cemetery here around 5.30am yesterday.

The victims’ remains were earlier sent to Surau Al-Istiqamah for the funeral prayer attended by some 200 people, Bernama reported.

In Monday’s flood, reported to be the worst-ever to hit this district, 85 houses were destroyed including nine that were completely washed away.

The bodies of Nurul Anis and Salmah were found embracing each other under a pile of logs about 100m from their house in Kampung Iboi while Khairul Ikhwan Nor Azman’s remains were retrieved not far from them the following day.
